Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the ECAS/Day Hospital team working across the 2 sites in Llandough & St David's Hospital.
Suitable candidates would include any B5 or B6 nurse, with a keen interest in continence care.
The successful candidate will work across the Day Hospital services and also provide direct clinical care to patients with identified continence needs,
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse wishing to expand their knowledge and skills surrounding bladder care. There will be an expectation you will provide education and training to patients, carers and health professionals.
You will need to be motivated, flexible and ready to develop your personal skills, working as part of a team and independently.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
This post will involve working within our Consultant led Gerontology Continence Service where you will assist in the running and coordination of the clinic and offer clinical leadership to other staff working in this field, within a defined set of organisational standards. Excellent communication, teaching and organisational skills are required for this role, as assessment skills, implementation and evaluation of care take place without direct supervision. You will also be expected to assist in the assessment and development of clinical skills of more junior staff who rotate through the clinic. IT skills, including PARIS and Auditing skills are essential in order to keep pushing the service forward and provide the best evidence-based care for our patients.
Clinical skills required would include catheterisation skills, DRE and venepuncture. Evidence of urinary incontinence management within the field of elderly care/rehab would be required.
