Job summary
An exciting opportunity as arisen to join the Professional Practice Development Nurse (PPDN) team within Primary Community and Intermediate Care Clinical Board (PCIC). You will join a team that consists of Nurses who provide professional leadership for Registered Nurses and Health Care Support Workers (HCSW), whilst supporting and promoting excellent standards of clinical practice and quality of patient care. The team cover the North & West, South & East, Vale localities and Primary Care supporting nurses working within the services managed in each of the Localities. The services include District Nursing, intermediate care services, HMP Cardiff, Department of Sexual Health (DOSH) and Cardiff and Vale inclusion Service (CAVHIS). In addition, you will help support professional development for nurses working in our independent contractor services and nursing homes. A key element of your role will be the identification of learning and development needs. This is supported through the co-ordination of classroom and clinical based programmes of development across the Clinical Board within Cardiff & Vale UHB. You will also provide support by working closely with staff within the clinical setting to develop their skill and competency.
Main duties of the job
Provide effective clinical leadership and management to motivate and support nurses working in the Primary Community and Intermediate Care (PCIC) Clinical Board ensuring a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of the nursing service.
To be responsible for the provision of educational programmes to fulfil the expectations and priorities of the Welsh Government, UHB and Clinical Board with a direct impact on patient care delivery.
To support the Clinical Boardand lead Nurse in ensuring the highest standard of nursing care is provided, monitored and evaluated.
Devise and initiate systems and processes to support the delivery of the Welsh Government's (WG) strategic objectives and improve performance in demonstrating compliance with the Healthcare Standards; Fundamentals of Care; Free to Lead Free to Care; 1000 Lives Plus; National Service Frameworks; NICE, NPSA and MHRA guidance.
Ensure that statutory, mandatory and legal obligations are adhered to and that there is a robust system in place to monitor compliance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council's registration requirements.
In line with the strategic policies and financial regulations of the Health Board's Learning, Education and Development Department (LED), co-ordinate and compile the annual training needs analysis for the Directorate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
