Cardiff & Vale UHB and the Child Development & Health Psychology Service are delighted to welcome a Band 7 HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) to the Paediatric Health Psychology Team based in the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales.
The post holder will work in Paediatric Oncology Psychology Service (0.8wte) and General Paediatrics (0.2 wte). The applicant will be a highly valued member of the department where we encouragecollegial working and actively promote a culture where open dialogue about improving inclusion and diversity for both service users and staff is welcomed and celebrated.
You must hold a Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent), and be an HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling Psychologist). Final year trainee clinical or counselling psychologists soon to complete training are strongly encouraged to apply. Knowledge of, and a demonstrable interest in, applying clinical psychology in medical settings is recommended. The role involves delivering assessment, formulation, consultation, reflective practice and evidence-based interventions to support the psychological wellbeing of children and young people within the Paediatric Oncology and General Paediatric service.
Main duties of the job
The psychology service for paediatric oncology provides a service to children, young people and their families during and after their oncology treatment. The role includes delivering a psychological model of care throughout the service, aspects include: providing individual psychological therapy / group-based interventions; completing neuropsychological assessment; offering consultation; facilitating reflective practice and clinical supervision. 0.2 of this post will be delivering a psychology service within General Paediatrics, there is a full time band 7 clinical psychologist and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist already within the General Paediatric Psychology team.
Both roles sit within the child health psychology department. The department is extremely supportive and passionate about challenging power differentials to ensure that the voice of children and young people are heard. Building and maintaining positive relationships is at the heart of the department. There would be opportunities to contribute to service improvement initiatives, research, co-facilitate teaching on DClinPsy training courses, and offer training to other health professionals within the Health Board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
