We are looking for an enthusiastic psychologist with significant experience of MDT working and of providing a full range of psychological services to persons/families with complex or enduring psychological distress. The post would be well suited to someone who enjoys working in a high-paced and dynamic environment. Psychological skills and expertise are highly valued. There are opportunities for direct work with individuals, families and systems, as well as supervision, consultancy, service improvement, team formulation and skills teaching/training. You will become a member of a large, supportive psychological specialty in addition to the Directorate of Psychology and Psychological Therapies. There is extensive opportunity and support to work alongside a number of psychologists and psychologically informed practitioners, including Practitioner Psychologists, Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAPs), Counsellors, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Specialist Practitioners and others delivering psychological interventions across all levels of the service.
As an experienced 8b psychologist you will play an important role in supporting others by providing consultancy, supervision and line management where appropriate. There will be opportunities to collaborate with other professions to support and drive strategic thinking and service development.
Main duties of the job
This post is an exciting career development opportunity for a permanent Band 8b Practitioner Psychologist providing psychological input into the REACT team within Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP).
The REACT service consists of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team that offers rapid response, high intensity home treatment for people aged over 65 with mental health difficulties and/or dementia who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis or where care at home is at risk of breakdown. As a highly valued part of this team and part of the REACT senior management team, your role includes direct clinical work (assessments and psychological interventions), team formulations, systemic thinking, risk assessments and management, service development, co-production, supporting multi-disciplinary team working, supervision and consultation, audit and research and strategic direction and decision making. There is a steady stream of new and innovative, creative developments. There is an excellent support network within this team and monthly specialty and peer support meetings.

- Substantial and demonstrable post-qualification experience of working as a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist with experience working with people with gender dysphoria.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings and maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified healthcare professional and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan
