Job summary

The Directorate of Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) and Neuropsychiatry are currently looking to recruit a full time Community Mental Health nurse to join the Neuropsychiatry Day Unit and Community Team based at Hafan Y Coed, University Hospital Llandough. The post is permanent and will be for 37.5 hours per week (part time hours will be considered). There will be significant opportunities for training and professional development. Our All Wales Neuropsychiatry service is currently undergoing transformation and working towards a liaison model across Wales. This post offers a good opportunity to join and be apart of the Neuropsychiatry Team during this integral period of service development.

Main duties of the job

The Welsh Regional Neuropsychiatry Service are seeking highly enthusiastic and committed registered mental health nurses to join the team.

This is a great opportunity to understand and to work with people with complex physical and mental health needs as a result of a Brain Injury and supporting their families. Successful candidates will be part of a well-established and supportive multidisciplinary team, working together, sharing expertise and benefiting from excellent professional development opportunities.

As well as holding a recognized professional qualification in mental health nursing and full NMC registration, you should have a genuine interest working with people who have a Brain injury.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development of plans of care and the implementation and evaluation of these plans of care for a clinical caseload. This will include taking the role of Care Coordinator and completing Care and Treatment Planning in conjunction with service users and their carers as per the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010. The post holder is required to work without direct supervision for their delegated caseload. The post holder will need to demonstrate effective communication skills and work collaboratively with the members of the MDT as well as external agencies/service providers.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post although we equally encourage applications from both English and/or Welsh speakers.
