Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the management team in the Emergency Department at the University Hospital of Wales. We are looking for a Band 7 Unit Manager to join the team and manage the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department is one of three departments that make up the Emergency and Acute Medicine Directorate.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, kind and adaptable manager. The successful candidate needs to be friendly and passionate about staff experience and wellbeing. As Unit Manager you should have experience in leadership, clinical governance, HR, Clinical Incidents and Concerns and also financial scrutiny. You also must be a Registered Nurse. The Unit Manager is a key member in the management team and will be expected to work closely alongside the other two Acute Medicine Unit Managers, Paediatric Unit Manager and also the Band 7 Team Leaders of the Emergency Department.
This post offers huge potential for further developing your leadership and management skills in a challenging but supportive setting. The successful candidate will need to confidently manage and provide strong leadership.
Main duties of the job
Exercise 24-hour accountability for the management of the ward providing fair, honest and measured people management.
Be responsible for the efficient management of the ward/clinical area budget, effectively deploying the nursing team and utilising the allocated resources and raising any financial expenditure concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Work and communicate effectively as a member of the nursing leadership team for the directorate/service, collaborating with other Sister/Charge Nurses and Senior Nurse
