Job summary
Pine detox is our 12 bedded specialist inpatient service for those experiencing problematic drug and alcohol misuse. Its serves as both a national centre of excellence for Wales and the Regional Hub for established Rehabilitations Pathways. Pine follows a psychosocial model of nursing care in which experienced traumatic events are explored as the core of addictive behaviours. Pine is an exceptional place to work in order to help newly qualified nurses develop their skills and knowledge in managing substance misuse and supporting patients in their recovery.
We are currently recruiting a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse, who are looking to pursue and develop their careers within Addictions Inpatient Services. This is an opportunity to work within a fast paced but rewarding environment, with an experienced and dynamic team on the Pine Detox ward. Post holders will be RMN's with a special interest and a real passion for working with patients who have substance misuse issues. We are seeking enthusiastic, highly motivated and compassionate nurses to join our existing team, to provide high quality care. We are searching for individuals who share our values. Main duties of the job
- The post holder will work closely with the Ward and Deputy Ward Managers.
- Be responsible for the management of the TDP, including assessment of clients, allocation of places for in-patients and outpatients, and evaluation of intervention in line with CAU protocols under supervision from the Ward Manager.
- Be responsible for maintaining the TDP database, monitoring client referral details, attendance and completion rates.
- Supervision of HCSW Band 3 who supports the programme.
- Work closely with the Pine Ward Team in establishing and providing an in-reach service for clients from wards within the Mental Health Clinical Board.
- Be responsible for liaison with referring agencies.
- Facilitate learning opportunities for student nurses and other disciplines on placement to the TDP. Act as preceptor/supervisor to student nurses as appropriate.
- Attend Ward rounds weekly.
- Participate actively in mandatory training, and any other therapy training relevant to the addiction field.
- Act in accordance with the legal requirements and statutory rules relating to practice and all UHB policies and procedures.
- Identify learning needs of patients and relatives and staff providing on-going instructions and assessment
- Advise staff, patients, relatives and members of the public on the promotion of health and prevention of illness
- The post holder will be subject to a Values Based Appraisal annually, and pay progression meeting
- The post holder will be expected to receive regular clinical supervision
