Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive and motivated individual to be our new band 4 support worker for our community Paediatric dietetic service. This role will support the Community Paediatric dietetic Team, children and families in a range of community settings including Special schools. This is a new post so you will be involved in shaping and developing the service with support from the Dietetic team.
Experience of working in community settings and with children would be advantageous but support and training can be provided
You will work within a friendly and highly skilled department and have numerous opportunities for professional and personal development.
The role will require some travel around Cardiff and the Vale including transporting equipment
Main duties of the job
The post holder will enable, support and assist patients who are receiving individual treatment programmes which have been agreed with and planned by the Dietitians.
The post holder will:
- Work under own initiative to plan and prioritise own caseload of patients, with guidance and support from a Dietitian, in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Monitor and encourage clients to follow their therapeutic care plan, using persuasion and guidance to increase compliance using developed communication skills.
- Carry out measurements of anthropometry such as weight, height and calculating Body Mass Index (BMI) and percentage weight loss.
- Provide advice to patients and carers for conditions where there are local protocols and clinical guidelines.
