Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Capital, Estates & Facilities Department at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board as a Team Leader.

The Estates Department currently have a vacant position as a Team Leader (Mechanical) to work alongside and support the Electrical & Building Managers in the strategic and continual development of the Estates Department.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic engineering or construction individual to support the continual service provision of one of the largest Health Boards in Wales.

We are looking to recruit someone who will ensure that we will excel in providing a safe, organised and highly efficient service, a person who can be innovative in their thinking and have the ability to make decisions for themselves.

The successful applicant will have to demonstrate experience and competency in a range of operational and maintenance Building Engineering Services and show their aptitude for effective planned and reactive maintenance support.

You will be the front line staff for reactive and planned maintenance related issues and will need to be able to support these along with the competing priorities, distractions and unpredictable work patterns caused by the operational nature of the role.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for day to day management of directly employed and contracted staff within area of responsibility ensuring quality of workmanship, adequate resourcing, planning of work programs and reacting to emergency breakdowns and situations.

As first line manager responsible for coordinating the effective use of staff and resources to ensure a timely and proactive maintenance service is delivered in compliance with legislative requirements, relevant HTM's and HBN, services specifications and key performance indicators.Responsible for ensuring statutory and mandatory training of staff is delivered as well as developing staff through PADRs and ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.

As Team Leader you will be expected to manage and lead your section of the Estates Team and ensure the day-to-day smooth operation of the service whilst ensuring its efficiency and safety.The Team Leader will ensure he deputises or assists others, covering duties where and when required by the UHB.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
