An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior HR Advisor to join the HR Shared Services Team here at the NHS Business Services Authority on a Permanent basis.

The Senior HR Advisor role is a key role in enabling our business to achieve its objectives and deliver for our clients, ensuring that we provide an excellent and proactive HR Advisory service to customers and clients as well as advising on the practical application of HR Policies and procedures to colleagues, the HRSS Advisory team and client managers.

Main duties of the job

As Senior HR Advisor, you will build key relationships and be an advocate for continual improvement within the team, actively embracing changes and taking accountability for any on-going issues that are identified as well as developing proactive solutions to improve.

You will work as part of an inclusive team to deliver an effective HR Shared Service to the NHSBSA, and our other NHS clients. The Senior HR Advisor is a key role within the HR Advisory team you will be required to deliver the full range of HR solutions, partnering with clients to understand their business requirements, and provide a professional, proactive service in line with those ongoing requirements.

Establishing strong working relationships, engaging new and potential key stakeholders, and providing a first-class partnering service are key to our delivery, to enable the HRSS to grow and embed its reputation as a professional HR service to and within the NHS.

Job responsibilities

In this role you are accountable for:

Working as part of the HRSS Advisory Team, contributing to the success of the wider HRSS service through:

  1. participating in a team culture of continuous improvement;
  2. the delivery of whole-service improvement projects;
  3. delivering an enhanced customer experience; and
  4. contributing to client growth.
  • Delivery of a primarily remote, but at times face to face, service for a range of clients which includes, but is not limited to, employee relations issues, the delivery of timely, accurate and up to date advice in line with relevant HR policy, current legislation and best practice, development of training materials, MI analysis and reporting, job evaluation, manager coaching and training, support for organisational change and TUPE, HR policy review and development, exit support and organisation design to help clients meet their HR and OD requirements.
  • Developing and managing key external stakeholder relationships to provide confidence in, and satisfaction with, our professional HR service, raise the service profile, and create opportunities to sustain this delivery model as a commercially viable in-sector service.
  • Contributing to the development of new services for the HR Advisory portfolio to ensure the services we offer meet clients changing needs and reflect new thinking in HR & OD.
  • Supporting the development of services with prospective clients, including contributing to a wide range of promotion and marketing activity and providing new clients with the support they need to onboard to the HRSS.
  • Taking a proactive approach to understanding the wider market, benchmarking our service to ensure it remains a commercially viable offering.
  • Providing regular MI reporting for clients, including appropriate insight and analysis on people issues to identify areas for improvement, opportunities for change and potential solutions to address any issues highlighted.
  • Management of key internal stakeholder relationships to ensure all process and policy changes are managed in conjunction with any touchpoints with the NHSBSA HR Team, the NHSBSA OD Team and the wider HRSS Team.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of the HRSS resourcing strategy to ensure continuity of service, effective management of risk and high levels of team engagement.
  • Undertaking Agenda for Change job evaluation activity for the NHSBSA and on behalf of all external clients that access that service to ensure a consistent, professional and compliant process that enables service users to have confidence in the use of role descriptions in their organisations that have been evaluated using our service.
  • To keep up to date on employment law issues, upcoming legislation and best practice developments, identifying any impact on the clients business and organisation-wide policies and procedures, and offering solutions to mitigate any risk.
