We are looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our team; someone who understands the best way to present data to our large and growing user base, working with high-volume, complex, health-related data sets in an exciting and challenging environment, using the latest cloud technologies. You will be part of the NHSBSA Data Platforms team, handling the design, development, testing, and production of dashboards and reports using Oracle and Microsoft technologies.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be expected to develop and provide efficient, timely and accurate information, documented analysis, reports and dashboards to internal and external stakeholders based upon their requirements.

Below are some examples of the type of work that this role covers:

  • Develops reports, dashboards and visualisations (e.g. clinical and non-clinical dashboards) to meet the Authority's needs and provide actionable insight.
  • Ability to handle large datasets with a clear understanding of how to clean, process, analyse, and visualise data to provide the most value and insight.
  • Provide analysis using appropriate query tools for performance reporting, contract monitoring, forecasting, target monitoring and audit purposes.
  • Ability to use business intelligence tools and basic SQL queries to interrogate, analyse and present data in an effective and informative manner in the most efficient way possible.
  • Automate processes to avoid time consuming data entry or unnecessarily manipulation and allow a focus on analysis and providing useful insight and interpretation of the data.
  • Decide on the best methodology to analyse, investigate and resolve complex analytical queries or problems.
  • Resolve highly complex information problems where there is no precedent or where leading opinions may conflict. Support development and refinement of metrics and reports to highlight trends, identify outlier behaviours within the data sets and risks within NHS services.
