Job summary

The Citizens Services Training Department are looking for a Training Content Designer to join the team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful multi skilled team.

The role is pre-dominantly focused on the design; utilising both online and traditional interventions. There will be an expectation of delivery of material for operational learning which includes technical and competency related learning and will be supported by the Operational Trainers in all aspects of Training Needs Analysis, design, delivery, and evaluation.

Main duties of the job

Based within our Citizen Services Learning Academy, the role of the Training Content Designer will report into the Training and Resource Lead and will identify, design, deliver and evaluate professional "best in class" learning interventions, to meet the developing needs of the business.

This will be a broad and diverse role in which the successful candidate will be responsible for Training Needs Analysis (TNA), design, delivery, and evaluation analysis of learning initiatives at all levels off the business from Apprenticeship levels to Management, customer facing and support staff including operational induction learning to management development, within Citizen Services

Job description

Job responsibilities

In this role you are accountable for:

  1. Lead on designing, developing and delivering training interventions utilising a wide range of delivery methods including a focus on online learning with the support of the Operational Trainers.
  2. Support the Operational Trainers with Induction and up-skill training delivery activities as and when required.
  3. Regularly undertake analysis and evaluation of existing approaches to ensure materials, content and delivery methods maintain their relevance.
  4. Utilise various training methods to include, classroom training (including virtual classroom i.e. Skype), facilitation, online e-learning, blended programmes utilising learning modules such as 70:20:10 learning.
  5. Delivering cost effective learning solutions through utilisation of the ESR (Electronic Staff Record) online system and online learning tools in ways that target, engage and meet different learning types, demands and needs of the Citizen Services business areas.
  6. Supporting the Training and Resource Lead with the assistance of the Operational Trainers in initial implementation of new training interventions across Citizen Services in particular assisting with the Training and Learning Needs Analysis.
  7. To provide facilitated e-Learning face to face group and/or one-to-one sessions as required.
  8. Liaising with and working with the support of the Quality and Knowledge team and Sherlock team to ensure all training interventions are compliant with all internal and external requirements.
  9. Ensure a robust process is in place to continually develop training materials, ensuring that Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders are engaged as partners in the process, reviewing and quality checking all versions prior to a final sign off of the online content.
  10. Evaluating programmes post-delivery, reporting on training delivered and providing evaluation analysis based on defined objectives and desired outcomes.
  11. Knowledge of different evaluation methods analyses and interprets feedback and evaluation data to create reports and make recommendations for change that are sustainable and appropriate.
  12. Creation of various training content such as process/technical training, soft skills management development training delivery including Coaching Skills, Managing Team Performance and Team Excellence.
  13. Attending internal and external meetings and committees to present on learning and development issues as required.
  14. Consult, design, schedule and facilitate effective learning approaches tailored to a variety of learner groups across all levels; both client-facing and non-client facing.
  15. Provide assistance and guidance to the business to solve specific learning challenges either on a one-to-one basis or in groups, in order to achieve business excellence.
  16. Champion the implementation of learning and development and the creation of a learning culture within the business.
  17. While the main focus is design there is the expectation that you will spend some time delivering training in order to keep your skill sets in both areas.
  18. Capability to travel to different sites (with overnight stays), on occasion, in order to meet the requirements of the post and a willingness to work a flexible pattern including occasional evenings and weekends.
