Job summary

This position is available on a Fixed Term/secondment basis up to September 2024.

We are recruiting one post, however applicants who have been deemed suitable for appointment may be placed on a waiting list to offer posts to as positions arise.

Working as part of a National Team, leading, and enabling the delivery of workforce optimisation services to deliver transformational change across the Health and Social Care system. Promoting and enabling optimal use of all NHSBSA workforce systems and services, with senior stakeholders including national bodies, regions, Integrated Care Partnerships, and user organisations.

This role would be suitable for a candidate that has experience in any of the following fields:

Main duties of the job

Working alongside the NHSBSA Workforce Services Directorate (WSD) to build expertise across all workforce systems including NHS Jobs, ESR(Electronic Staff Records), NHS Pensions, HR Shared Services and Student Services.

Through your expertise you will lead on the development and delivery of project plans, supporting organisations through their transformation journey with a real focus on continuous improvement.

Critical to the success of this role will be your compassionate, inclusive, and inspirational people leadership, creating and maintaining high performing teams, exceeding stakeholder expectations.

Creating and maintaining productive stakeholder relationships at all levels will be key to the success of our programmes, along with creative problem-solving, and considered, timely decision-making to meet user needs.

You will be an experienced and expert project manager, have experience in implementing new systems and processes on a large scale, ideally in the workforce digital space and adhering to complex and wide-ranging governance requirements.

Being a credible delivery partner for large scale NHS workforce transformation projects, effectively project managing the successful delivery of complex, concurrent projects with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to agreed standards. Identifying risks and issues and working to identify mitigating actions through analysis and problem solving with system experts. Applying agile and Prince project management experience and expertise to project planning, delivery, and impact evaluation.

Working within a high performing team you will enable the delivery of workforce optimisation services to deliver transformational change across the Health and Social Care system. Promoting and enabling optimal use of all NHSBSA workforce systems and services, with senior stakeholders.

The post holder will develop and deploy their personal credibility to create and maintain productive working relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders across the system.

The post holder will develop and coordinate plans, support organisations through their transformation journey with a real focus on continuous improvement. They will be expected to provide robust operational support in the coordination of each transition and feeding back into the Optimisation project where changes are identified/required.

The post holder will ensure the Implementation Project Team leads by example, demonstrating strong leadership skills and developing team members to build on existing skills and knowledge.

In this role, you are accountable for:

  1. Supporting and reporting to the WSD Optimisation.
  2. Coordinate and manage multiple implementation projects to ensure a successful implementation for both NHSBSA and organisations using NHS Jobs, ESR, Pensions and HR Shared Services and Student Services.
  3. Build excellent working relationships internally and externally, with system and service suppliers, customers and other organisations.
  4. Be forward thinking and continuously reviewing the effectiveness of the implementation, changes and identifying improvements. This includes working with other business areas and stakeholders.
  5. Ensure engagement from colleagues during the implementation of change, providing clear direction, updates and identification of risks and actions to enable a positive change.
  6. Encourage an atmosphere of trust and openness based on working together and shared objectives. Utilise high-functioning communication skills to encourage a collaborative customer focused approach.
  7. Support the implementation of business change, managing risks, issues and actions in line with required standards across a number of concurrent projects and diverse stakeholders.
  8. Effective problem solving, using logic and imagination to make sense of situations and develop a solution that works.
  9. Line management for direct reports and responsibility for the effective implementation of policies relating to appraisal, absence management, disciplinary and grievance processes, performance monitoring and management and personal development plans. Actively progress own development requirements, seeking to create opportunities to meet your development requirements.
  10. Develop internal and external facing guidance and process instructions for use in all aspects of managing and implementing process change to include risk, performance and governance.
  11. Actively promote and realise the increased use of data analytics within WSD. Demonstrate how we can examine large data sets and uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations, customer trends and other useful business information to drive improved recruitment.
