We are thrilled to offer the opportunity for a Solutions Designer (Technical Architect) who has experience working with Microsoft 365 and Dynamics to join us to work with our growing community in our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate.

This role will be responsible for the technical architecture design, strategies, and standards for our Microsoft Dynamics CRM and M365. In this role, you'll drive innovation by architecting cutting-edge solutions that leverage the full potential of these platforms. Your responsibilities will encompass designing robust, scalable, and secure solutions, aligning them with industry best practices. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyse requirements, ensure compliance, and stay ahead of emerging Microsoft technologies. Your technical leadership will be instrumental in delivering transformative solutions that empower our organization to excel in today's digital landscape.

Main duties of the job

As a Solution Designer with experience with Microsoft products, you will recommend solution designs aligned with business objectives and technology standards.

You'll excel in ensuring a technical architect view of robust security measures and compliance, optimizing system performance, and orchestrating seamless integrations with existing systems and third-party applications.

Your expertise will shine in crafting strategies, enhancing collaboration through tools like Teams and SharePoint, and developing custom solutions using Dynamics CRM, Power Platform and .NET. You'll maintain meticulous documentation, nurture vendor relationships, and uphold compliance with industry standards.

Job responsibilities

In this role, you are accountable for:

  1. Understanding user and business needs and be confident in translating them into the design of products and services.
  2. Design and prototype solutions, interfaces and interactions. Work with designers to simplify complex transactions and explain clearly to non-solution designers the reasons for design choices.
  3. Work closely with user researchers to assist with testing and analysing research results.
  4. Work with other designers and architects to maintain a library of standard design patterns and promote its use across digital services and the wider organisation
  5. Lead in the proposing of changes and sharing of good practices that can be adopted to drive design standards, ensuring appropriate governance for contribution to the development of products and services.
  6. Follow and support methods and standards to achieve a high level of accessibility for the end user in our products
  7. Develop frameworks, setting standards and principles and draw up accompanying policies to ensure consistency and high quality services
  8. Understand design proposals from external suppliers, and support and present recommendations to senior stakeholders
  9. Work within a multi-disciplinary team of software developers, testers, researchers, business analysts, service designers and support a culture focused on ensuring customer needs are met
  10. Deliver designs that meet security, governance, web standards, ensuring that key elements are built in from the outset
  11. Communicate and present, to a variety of stakeholders, in-depth information concisely within sprint reviews as well as delivering lunch and learn sessions.
  12. Participate and sometimes lead within Communities of Practice sharing best practice and adoption of design standards, trends and patterns.
