The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance and advice on promoting high quality health, public health and social care.
We improve outcomes for people using the NHS and other public health and social care services by:
- producing evidence-based guidance and advice for health, public health and social care practitioners
- developing quality standards and performance metrics for people providing and commissioning health, public health and social care services
- providing a range of information services for commissioners, practitioners and managers across the spectrum of health and social care.
The Centre for Guidelines develops guidance on the promotion of good health and social care and the prevention of ill health, the appropriate treatment and care for people with specific diseases and conditions, and service delivery. The guidance is used by those working in the NHS, local government, social care, and patients and their families. The NICE guidelines programme is one of the largest in the world, having produced more than 300 guidelines since it was established in 2001.
The Project Management Professional Team provides administrative and project management support across the Centre for Guidelines
Main duties of the job
The Senior Programme Manager manages a team of programme managers, project managers, coordinators and administrators providing support across the Centre for Guidelines.They will be responsible for maintaining a workforce planning system to enable clear resource assignment and trackable activity for the Professional team.
They will support the CfG SLT in delivering priorities as set out in the business plan, for example the Timeliness project.They will work closely with the PMO and topic hubs to monitor the flow of work to ensure adequate team resources are available and will undertake forward planning to ensure the programme is suitably resourced to meet business plan objectives. This includes leading on recruitment planning and working closely with the senior team to inform recruitment decisions for the next business year.The post holder will be an effective collaborator who will maintain key relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders who input into the development of guidance.
