Job summary

Join NICE as an Expert Adviser in Real-World Evidence!

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) exists to help improve the quality, sustainability and productivity of health and social care in England and Wales. We have an international reputation for producing high quality guidance and information on effective practice that supports better decisions and helps the health and care system to prioritise its investments. We are world leaders in the work that we do.

We are offering a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to join NICE as a Scientific Adviser responsible for delivering our contribution to a newly established pan-European project 'Guidelines for Real-world Evidence Generation in Europe - GREG'. This role is integral to advancing real-world evidence research in guidance development. The postholder will play a key part in shaping internationally harmonised methodologies that will support regulators, industry, and HTA agencies across Europe. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in real-world evidence, combined with a strong understanding of guidance development processes.

As a central member of this high-impact initiative, you will collaborate with international experts, contribute to cutting-edge research, and help shape policies that influence healthcare decision-making across Europe. If you are passionate about real-world evidence and eager to make a difference at an international level, we encourage you to apply.

Main duties of the job

The Scientific Adviser will work in a team that adopts a flexible approach, meaning that the specific tasks assigned to the post-holders may change in response to business needs.

Activities will include:

-Advising on and developing solutions to complex methodological, technological, and policy issues in the development of new best practice methods focused on real-world evidence generation.

-Leading and chairing work package meetings

-Developing the required deliverables that NICE is responsible for in the GREG project. Develop scientific material, and updating methods and policy guidance, including new international guidance developed through the project and updating NICE's Real-world evidence framework to incorporate new best practice methods.

-Working with colleagues across NICE to identify and prioritise areas where methodological research is needed and to encourage the implementation and adoption of research findings in NICE's methods and processes.

-Communicating and working effectively with key strategic leads in relevant external organisations, including members of IHI GREG international consortium.

-Drawing from, and bringing in expertise from, other key knowledge leaders to support the development of new content.

-Drafting guidance, discussion documents, and publications as required.
