Job summary

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a talented Content Editor to manage content for the HFEAs website and Clinic Portal, as well as supporting our communications on high-profile issues around fertility.

Main duties of the job

The website is the HFEAs main source for unbiased information about fertility treatment for patients. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to ensure it meets our audiences information needs and ranks highly so that we are the go-to source for information on fertility treatment,

Reporting to the Web Manager/Developer, youll work with the communications team on developing the new content pages and support with developing engaging content for our social media channels.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for managing our content review planner. Youll also lead on the delivery and development of the HFEAs press cuttings service for colleagues, ensuring colleagues are alerted to media mentions. Youll also have the opportunity to contribute to internal communications initiatives.

Youll have experience of working with web content management systems, excellent experience in managing and generating web content, and an understanding of search engine optimisation. Youll also have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.

This post is offered as either office based (in which case you will need to attend the office at least one day per week) or home based (in which case office attendance will be specified by your line manager based on business need). Our office is in Stratford, east London, in attractive new premises on the edgeof the Olympic Park, alongside several other health Arms Length Bodies. In addition to flexibility and hybrid working we offer generous annual leave and pension arrangements.

Interviews are expected to take w/c 20th October at Redman Place.

The HFEA is the UK's independent regulator overseeing safe and appropriate practice in fertility treatment and embryo research. We license and monitor clinics carrying out IVF, donor insemination, and human embryo research.

Key responsibilities

Publish HFEA reports and press releases to our website in a timely manner and to a high standard

Keep the website content up to date so it meets the information needs of our audiences and ranks highly in search engines to enable us to be the go-to source for information on fertility treatment

Manage the website content review planner and register of external links and identify gaps and redundancies in the site content such as missing pages, broken links etc

Work with the communications team on the development of new content pages ensuring appropriate ways to present information for different audiences

Ensure the HFEAs visual identity is reflected on the website and Clinic Portal and images are used appropriately

With the guidance and support of the Web Manager and cross-organisational teams, ensure HFEA website content is audience driven, accurate and engaging

To support the Digital Communications and Social Media Officer to source and develop engaging content for the HFEA social media channels

Liaising with the Communications Manager, Senior External Comms Manager and Social Media Officer to ensure that outputs across the HFEAs external communications channels are coordinated

To lead the development and delivery of the Weekly press cuttings service for HFEA staff, ensuring recipients are alerted to HFEA media mentions as well as the general health and fertility related news highlights on a monthly and ad hoc basis.

To support the Senior External Communications Manager to source and write articles for publication in external communication channels including stakeholder publications and the HFEA website

  • Ability to use HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge and experience of website accessibility including Government Digital Service standards

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
