Job summary

We have some exciting opportunities for dedicated and qualified Social Workers to be part of our Cared for and Support and Protect Teams. We are looking for motivated, hard-working, and dedicated people to join our teams to help develop and deliver exceptional service to improve outcomes for children and families in Westmorland and Furness.

Main duties of the job

Support and Protect Team

The role is very varied as we work with families on a short-term basis whilst completing assessments and on a longer term basis working Child in Need Plans and Child Protection Plans and in some cases we complete pre proceedings work and issue care proceedings. We work with all young people from birth up to the age of 18, having strong links with other agencies and teams in Westmorland.

Cared For Team

You will be working with children who are currently cared for by the Local Authority, making sure they have the right care plan in place to reach their potential, or alongside young people who are leaving or have left care, helping them to gain their independence. You will also be responsible for assessing children who are found to be seeking asylum.

  • Evidence of continuing professional development in social care/social work post qualification.
  • Evidence of successful completion of ASYE portfolio
  • Knowledge of Assessment and Case Management Processes and outcome based planning
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Some experience in work with children and families, pre/post or during qualification
  • Ability to work as part of multi disciplinary team with internal and external colleagues
  • sharing and co-ordinating resources
  • Ability to plan work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to produce clear written reports
  • Work directly with vulnerable children
  • Liaise with external and internal partners on day-to-day service issues.
  • Clear and concise verbal skills with children and adults
