Live Well Services, is a specialist Team which supports the residents of Leicester city to improve their health and wellbeing by offering support with smoking cessation, increasing physical activity, managing alcohol levels, healthy eating, and weight management.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Healthy Lifestyle Advisor to join our team and help clients through their journey to improve their healthy lifestyle behaviour. As a team, we work closely with clients with long term health conditions and support them in making a positive and sustained lifestyle choices.

Usually based at Braunstone Health and Social Care Centre, youll be required to work across the city. This is a permanent, full-time post working 37 hours per week on a rota basis which includes evenings and weekends.

Main duties of the job

As an enthusiastic Healthy Lifestyle Advisor, youll manage a caseload of clients and work with them on either one to one basis or in groups to deliver a comprehensive healthy living programme through evidence based behavioural change models including, motivational interviewing, prescribed physical activity, and holistic healthy lifestyle support. In accordance with NICE guidelines youll deliver appropriate physical activity and exercise programmes within local community venues such as parks, leisure centres and community spaces as well as provide advice on variety of subjects such as healthy eating. Youll maintain accurate and efficient records of the healthy lifestyle changes of clients outcomes, which are in line with guidelines.

Listening and interpreting complex health information into understandable terms about health and health improvement. To deal with clients in a professional, positive and friendly manner to encourage them to overcome barriers and change their behaviours to enable them to develop more healthy behaviours and lifestyles. To provide a quality and professional service, which provide local people with the opportunity to be involved in the development of the programme and listen to their comments to ensure that a service addresses local peoples needs. To support the service to manage a caseload of approximately 6,000 clients per annum. To ensure the needs of clients of all abilities, including those with disabilities, are able to access activities and are integrated into the opportunities provided. To signpost clients to other services where deemed appropriate. To undertake professional training on key issues like behavioural therapies in line with national standards and local requirements to ensure that personal practice meets the required quality standards.
