Join us to deliver on a secondary care treatment programme for tobacco addiction. As a valued member of our local authority Stop Smoking Services team, youll work on this exciting programme for smokers across University Hospitals Leicester. Working with the Service Lead, community and hospital-based midwives and maternity support workers, we aim to provide Stop Smoking support to pregnant women to promote smoke free pregnancies and smoke free homes.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed term position working 37 hours per week. Youll be able to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends by agreement, to provide sessions to meet service user needs. Youll work across two sites - Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Working predominantly in hospital wards and clinics within maternity services, youll also counsel pregnant women on stopping smoking from the community. Youll manage a caseload of clients and monitor their progress, as well as make further referrals to other services to support clients to enhance their health and wellbeing. This will include planning and delivering treatment sessions, using motivational interviewing techniques and providing clients with tools to help them with stopping smoking during their pregnancy and the post-natal period. Youll work closely with Public Health midwife, Service Lead and stop smoking services to develop, inform, and implement strategies to ensure health professionals are adequately trained to support women and their families with health improvement measures.
