Job summary

Working closely with officers within the Live Well team and the wider Public Health team, as well as other internal and external services. You will provide people with the tools to make positive health changes, motivating them to stop smoking.

This is a full time post based at Braunstone Health and Social Care Centre working Monday to Friday, however you must be able to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends by agreement to provide sessions to suit service users and be willing & able to work occasionally outside normal office hours.

Main duties of the job

As a Stop Smoking Advisor, youll manage your caseload of clients and monitor their progress as well as making onward referrals where appropriate, to support clients in further enhancing their health and wellbeing. By implementing behaviour change techniques and providing clients with the tools they need to succeed, youll aim to help them overcome tobacco dependency and provide clinical advice. As a confident IT user, youll maintain accurate records on the client record management systems.

Job responsibilities

Smoking Cessation Clinics and Groups Delivering smoking cessation sessions via group and one-one interventions in a variety of settings across the city utilising motivational interviewing and behaviour change skills Providing clinical advice to clients and partners and other professionals Undertaking home visits where required Plan and deliver stop smoking treatment sessions via one-to-one counselling/interviewing predominately in a hospital setting (across all UHL hospital sites) Coordinate with secondary care specialist advisors to plan and deliver UHL staff training. 60% Casework & Data Management Managing a casework of clients and monitoring their progress to ensure it is managed effectively in order to prevent relapse Making onward referrals to internal and external services to support clients to further enhance their health and wellbeing e.g. debt management services, housing support or other lifestyle related support services Maintaining accurate records on the client record management systems 25% Service and Self Development: Participating in ongoing training, learning and professional development as required to understand and impart best practice Contributing to improvements in the group work offer by assisting with the development of new sessions, materials and interventions 10% Carry out other miscellaneous duties associated with the role
