Leeds City Council is offering a range of opportunities for Registered Learning Disabilities Nurses in our Learning Disability Care Management teams. Our vision is for Leeds to be the best city in the UK: one that is compassionate with a strong economy; that tackles poverty and reduces the inequalities that still exist. We are looking for dynamic and creative Nurse Care Managers who have the values, skills and knowledge to work alongside people in ways that are person-centred and value each individual's uniqueness, potential and strengths.

It is an exciting time to work in Leeds. We have been leaders in developing the strength-based approach to delivering social care, working in partnership with the National Development Team for Inclusion. We want everyone we work with to feel listened to and empowered, and for their support to reflect their hopes and what really matters to them.

Our Nurse Care Managers change lives. Its a challenging job and we recognise that to achieve excellent outcomes for Leeds citizens with learning disabilities, our staff are well supported and have opportunities to develop. Our council has a strategy for employees to support health and wellbeing. It sets out how we must care for ourselves and for one another, so everyone can be their best and play their part in helping Leeds become the UKs best City.

Main duties of the job

As part of our valued workforce, you will enjoy:

Professional development - we encourage our staff to grow their career with us, we have clear career progression pathways and work to ensure the right balance between support and challenge in all roles

Preceptorships - we offer a supported first year of employment for newly qualified Nurse Care Managers alongside a robust supervision and appraisal framework

Continued Professional Development - Leeds City Council are committed to staff development and offer a range of training opportunities. Additionally, we offer the opportunity for further career development including the AMHP qualification

Balance - we offer opportunities for flexible working and value the importance of maintaining a good work-life balance for staff wellbeing

Support - we have a strong professional support network, from experienced leadership to supportive teams and team managers

Connection - we value the importance of connection and professional relationships to continually learn from each other and the people and families we are working alongside. These strong support networks and learning opportunities provide our workforce with what they need to deliver the best possible outcomes for the adults who need them

Partnership working - there is a strong commitment to partnership working across health and social care in Leeds and foundations are in place to take forward increased co-location to better deliver services to the people of Leeds

About us

We welcome applications from all sections of the community and are keen to ensure the diversity of our city is reflected in our workforce.

We will provide increased opportunities in areas of under-representation to create an inclusive workforce at all levels and assess the needs of existing and potential disabled employees and provide all reasonable adjustments.

Come and join us and be a part of the rewarding journey to deliver real positive change for the people of Leeds.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check against the Adults barred list will be carried out on preferred candidates. We promote diversity and want a workforce that reflects the population of Leeds. Leeds City Council is a Stonewall Top 100 employer, a Mindful employer and a Disability Confident Leader.
