Job summary

There are some exciting opportunities for Occupational Therapists who have recently graduated or wish to gain experience of working in a Social Care setting, to work in the Disability Service Teams across Leeds. The post is rotational, and you will gain experience in working in different teams of Occupational Therapists and includes - area DST team, Blue Badge Eligibility Assessment Team, short-term Recovery Beds, Early Intervention Team and the Enhanced Reviewing team. Each rotation is 9 months.

As a Leeds City Council Occupational Therapist you will work with an experienced team of OTs and OT assistants and Rehabilitation Officers, visual impairment. There are good links with the therapists who work in Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust and Leeds Community Healthcare. You will also be working alongside Social Work colleagues.

Main duties of the job

In the Area teams our OTs support older and disabled people to improve their wellbeing by identifying and arranging provision of equipment and environmental adaptations, working in a strengths based approach.The aim of the Early Intervention Team is to provide enhanced screening of new referrals and utilise the skills and knowledge of Occupational Therapists to work with people in a strength-based way, using a self-management approach to identify solutions to meet their needs. The enhanced reviewing team work with people who have an existing package of care who have not previously had an OT assessment to identify ways to support people in a strength based way.,

You will need to bring to the role an ability to take a personalised approach to assessment and support planning so that people can achieve their desired outcomes.
