Job summary

City of York Council is offering an exciting opportunity to join our 0-19 Healthy Child Service. We are looking for an innovative and forward-looking Child Health-Development worker with a passion for delivering good outcomes. If you feel this could be you then we want to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

Working with the Health Visitors, Public Health Team Leader and Public Health Practice Educators you will support the delivery of delegated parts of the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme to children, young people and their families with particular focus around the first 1001 days of a childs life.You will focus on promoting health, preventing ill health, identifying health needs and recognising unmet health needs through use of evidence-based practice.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Qualified to NNEB; or Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Early Years; or NVQ Level 3 in Early Year and Education; or NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education; or Level 3 qualification in Children's Care, Learning and Development. Or any recognised Level 3 Children and Young People qualification.

Knowledge of child health and development 0-19 including but not limited to: attachment and bonding; nutrition; oral health; vision and hearing, school readiness; parenting support; continence; emotional well-being; adolescence.

A range of community or child health related experience with children 0-19 years old and their families.

Essential

  • Qualified NNEB; or Level 3 BTec National Diploma in Early Years; or NVQ Level 3 in Early Years and Education; or NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education; or Level 3 qualification in Children's Care, Learning and Development. Or any recognised Level 3 Early Years or Children and Young People qualification.
  • Knowledge of child health and development 0-11 years including but not limited to: attachment and bonding, infant feeding, weaning, nutrition and diet; oral health; vision and hearing screening ;parenting support for sleep, behaviour and continence and speech, language and communication, school readiness.

  • Willing to undertake further training to develop skills and knowledge in child health and development 0-11 years.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to work within professional roles and boundaries.
  • Competent communicator written and verbal.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Working knowledge of Safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
  • Ability to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English, to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) - level C1 - Effective operational proficiency or advanced - Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language
