Assessment Team Accident & Emergency Department York Hospital

Hospital has recently opened the new A&E Department and the Hospital Social
Work Team have a an employment opportunitywithin the Rapid Assessment
Team (RATS) based in A&E.
The post is a 37-hour Social Work post workingin a
multi-disciplinaryteam alongside Physio and Occupational
Therapy colleagues from health.
Main duties of the job
The
team is well established and is staffed with 2 very experienced Social Workers.
The team cover 8am 8pm 7 days a week on a rotational basis.
As
a social worker in RATS you do not hold a case load, your remit is to prevent admission to acute
care, working to a Home First and strength based ethos. You will support
customers from York, North Yorkshire, and East Riding and out of area who
present at A&E. The work is interesting and varied and would appeal to
those who like fast paced rapid assessment work and have at least 2 years post
qualifying experience and are looking for a change.
You
will receive monthly supervision and be supported by the hospital social work
management team; we have monthly team meetings and peer support.

Qualifications
Essential
- Social work, e.g., C.Q.S.W., C.S.S., Diploma in Social Work (Dip SW) or similar as defined in the National Conditions of Service.
Experience
Desirable
- Experience of cases involving the resolution of complex professional and legal issues affecting the care of individuals in relation to the courts, case conferences and other formal processes.
- Experience of cross agency practice with others involved in the care of vulnerable people, e.g., acute/ community health services, the police, schools and colleges.
