Job summary
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Healthy Child Service, safeguarding children team.
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic practitioner with a high level of experience in safeguarding children practice.
The post holders will work as part of a multi-agency integrated team contributing their expertise to thesafeguarding management discussions within the Multi- Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for gathering information from a wide range of health provider organisations. They will utilise their expertise to interpret this information and contribute towards the assessment of need, potential harm and risk to the child(ren). They will identify those services which are best placed to support the children, adults and families concerned.
The post holder will work collaboratively with partner agencies within the MASH to ensure robust, high quality, timely and effective practice to safeguard children.
The post holder will also be responsible for providing safeguarding advice, training and supervision to the Healthy Child Service practitioners and undertake quality audits. .

Job responsibilities
The successful post holder will have:
- Registered Nurse on part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register
- Excellent communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Information Governance, professional record keeping requirements, confidentiality, and consent
- Up to date knowledge, skills and competencies within the multi-agency safeguarding children arena
- Significant experience working with children and families where there are safeguarding children concerns
- Experience in effective multi-agency and partnership working
- Ability to build relationships with a wide range of colleagues
- Skills to support effective challenge when there are differing professional opinions on the management of cases
- The post holder will have access to support and supervision as well as peer support via the North Yorkshire and York Safeguarding Children Health Professionals Network
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
