This is an exciting time to join Sandwell Metropolitan Brough Council Adult Social Care. We are currently looking to recruit an additional 8 x full time (37hour) Social Workers into or Learning Disability/Autism Team to bring it to full capacity.
We are looking for committed and hardworking qualified Social Worker with Adult Social Work experience working with people with Learning Disabilities/Autism. You will need to be motivated and flexible with high professional standards and sound knowledge and experience of current legislation including the Care Act 2014, Continuing Health Care, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Community DOLS/LPS.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work with vulnerable adults with Learning Disabilities/Autism and also have some knowledge around physical disability, people with profound & complex needs, carers and the wider community.
You will need to be confident in undertaking safeguarding investigations, mental capacity assessments, best interest decisions, carrying out outcome focused assessments, with support planning, to meet their care and support needs.
You must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals and with our partner agencies to deliver the best outcomes for our customers who have a learning Disability/Autism.
You will be given an induction, appropriate training opportunities and regular supervision with an experienced manager. You will be working in a friendly environment, skilled, diverse and supportive team.
Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent
- Social Work England Registration
- 2 years post qualifying experience
- An enhanced barring DBS check will be required
