Job summary
This is an exciting time to join Sandwell Metropolitan Brought Council Adult Social Care. We are looking to recruit full time Mental Health Social Workers in our borough wide Community Mental Health Social Work Service, part time working 18.5 hours can be considered.
Applicants must be a qualified social workers, with AMHP Status and registered with Social Work England.
The role is primarily to undertake MHA Assessments and related work under the Mental Health Act however you may be required to undertake care management, safeguarding and hospital discharge duties where service need dictates.
Main duties of the job
Experience of dealing with complex and challenging situations is required with a high level of skill in risk assessment. Ability to take part in the 7 day working rota (for which enhancements will apply) and on call overnight rota is a requirement of the post as is the ability to drive within and outside of the borough at short notice. The use of pool cars are available to carry out your duties subject to a satisfactory risk assessment and licence check.
You will be working within a stable, friendly and skilled service that is diverse and supportive. Management support is available 24/7 as is access to legal advice. You will be given an induction, excellent training opportunities, AMHP update training and regular professional supervision. Attendance at the local and joint AMHP Forums are also actively encouraged.
Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent
- Social Work England Registration
- Car Driving Licence holder with the ability to travel within and outside of the borough at short notice.
- Qualified AMHP
- Ability to work unsocial hours across 7 days and participate on the on call out of hours AMHP rota.
