Job summary

The Disability Day Opportunities service is looking for Support Workers to provide compassionate, safe, effective and responsive support that will assist service users in maximizing their independence.

This role involves providing support with a range of personal and practical tasks that will achieve agreed personal goals, so that wherever possible service users are able to exercise choice and control in maintaining their wellbeing. After following an individuals plan, staff will report back to their manager, giving accurate feedback and record on progress towards agreed outcomes.

Role Requirements:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of delivering care and support to people with a disability or older people, to enable them to live independently.
  • Able to work flexible hours and in a range of environments. Able to lone work Willingness and ability to travel around the borough with a good knowledge of the Sandwell area.
  • 18 years old or over.
  • Able to work as a team and use own initiative.
  • Able to prioritise workload and deliver high standards of support to our customers using a person-centred approach. Able to travel across the borough.
  • Will be required to undertake and complete the care certificate or equivalent.
  • Will be required to undertake specific training to Adult Social Care that will enable individuals care and support needs to be met appropriately.
  • The post - holder will undertake an Enhanced Adults DBS check.

  • To support and participate in peoples chosen activities. Promoting citizenship and community engagement.
