Job summary
Howbury House is 32 bed residential home for people who need care and support and are living with dementia. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission. We are increasing our staffing levels on a permanent basis and have various jobs available. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring people to join our team to enhance the lives of our residents.
The successful applicants must have the ability to listen and communicate orally and in writing. The ability to work as part of a team but also be able to work on own initiative, be caring, compassionate and motivated. An understanding of the rights and needs of older people and the ability to treat people with dignity and respect and as individuals.
Main duties of the job
To assist & support residents with personal care and physical tasks e.g. assistance with dressing,
washing etc
Social duties aimed at creating a supporting atmosphere where residents can achieve maximum
independence. Encourage & assist residents with individual & group social & therapeutic
activities of the centre.
To participate in the normal domestic tasks connected with the daily routine of the centre & the
personal needs of the residents.
To enter details of incidents & events occurring during a period of duty in the appropriate records, & to report verbally to the senior member of staff on duty before leaving the premises.
To report & record significant matters in the service users lives in accordance with the departments
policy to Access to Records.
To maintain & update care plans and risk assessments with residents & senior staff on duty
To distribute medication as instructed.
To attend & participate in staff meetings and supervisions.
To undertake other such duties related to the work of the Council as may be assigned which are
consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.
Regular surveillance & observations of service user's building throughout the period of the shift.
To maintain personal & professional development to meet the changing demands of the job

This role is in a CQC registered care home. Anyone working in a CQC-registered care home in England for residents requiring nursing or personal care must have 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine unless they have a medical exemption.
