Job summary
The post-holder will work within EPIC
Learning, which is an alternative learning provision to support young people
who have been excluded from mainstream school. This will provide a unique
insight into working with young people who have experienced invalidating and
traumatic environments. They will support the integration of psychologically
informed thinking within existing pathways of this education provision.
The key role will be to complete a
psychological profile assessment of each young person open to EPIC Learning,
including the completion of a cognitive assessment and various psychometric
assessments. The post holder will also facilitate group based, and where
required 1:1, interventions to young people attending EPIC Learning, having the
opportunity to gain experience in using different psychological models (e.g.,
CBT, Motivational interviewing and DBT). There will also be the opportunity to
provide psycho-education sessions for clients and provide staff training to
support cohesive communication and integration of psychological models and
knowledge.
The role of the assistant will assist
the MDT with the development of psychological case formulations, which inform
enhanced risk assessments and intervention plans. The role will be clinically
supervised via the psychology service, whilst day to day line management will
be provided via the EPIC Learning Manager.
Main duties of the job
The team is looking for an
enthusiastic, robust, committed individual who has a keen interest in working
with complex and challenging young people. The role may require travel across
the South Yorkshire region.
Within this role you will have the opportunity
to work in a flexible and dynamic way to meet the needs of this challenging
client group. You will have the opportunity to enhance your psychological
insight in relation to this client group, through development of assessment and
formulation skills. Development of clinical skills will also be supported.
Furthermore, under the supervision of the psychology service, the
post-holder may have the opportunity in supporting in the delivery of teaching
and training to partner agency staff, across the Young Peoples Service. There
will also be the opportunity to work within the psychology service and pick up
a wider range of work during school holidays when the EPIC Learning role is
quieter. There will also be the requirement to support the psychology services
Harmful Sexual Behaviours advice line and there may be the opportunity to
undertake direct work in relation to young people who display Harmful Sexual
Behaviours.
The post-holder will be provided with
opportunities to expand their experience with conducting audits, collection and
analysis of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects and
clinically related administration.
