The starting salary for this role is £19,677 per annum (pro-rata from £39,355 full time equivalent) based on an 18-hour working week. We are excited to be recruiting a part time Occupational Therapist to come and work with us in the Epsom and Ewell Locality Team, currently based in Epsom and then moving to Leatherhead. In August we relocated Epsom Locality Team to Fairmount House in Leatherhead on a temporary basis, the team will be moving to a permanent office location, which is still to be confirmed.   • About the role As an Occupational Therapist within the team, your day-to-day responsibilities are varied and would include undertaking occupational therapy assessments and reviews of existing and new cases. You will manage your own caseload and arrange and attend home visits accordingly. You will be responsible for the completion and recording of Section 9 Adult Social Care Assessments on our client database, and in some instances will update the client's Support Plan to reflect the outcome of the assessment. Training will be available for our client database as part of your comprehensive induction. You will be able to analyse information and set interventions for the people you assess to help them meet goals they have identified and order equipment for clients using the equipment ordering service, with training provided. As part of the role, you will also undertake the completion of Moving and Handling Assessments following the appropriate training, and the completion of Major Adaptation Reports, along with referrals to all relevant Housing Associations. This will include facilitating the Disabled Facilities Grant process and working with the Home Improvements Agency in the Borough Council Grants Team to ascertain the potential costs, feasibility and practicality of the works requested. Part of this process would involve working with the surveyors to look at the structure of the property. You will have a shared responsibility for the screening and progressing of new referrals to the team via our duty function, which will be organised on a rota basis. You will receive regular supervision alongside a comprehensive induction period. You will be able to access regular training as well as benefiting from robust mentoring and support provided by your experienced colleagues. In your application, we would love to hear about:
  • Your experience of working within a social care or community focussed multi-disciplinary setting that provides care, support and advice to meet people's long-term needs.
  • Your ability to complete person-centred and proportionate OT assessments including moving and handling risk assessments.
  • Your knowledge of medical conditions and the likely impact on the individual and the ability to demonstrable knowledge of the impact of long-term disability on the individual, carer and family.
  • Knowledge of current legislation, including the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act and its application to practice in a social care setting.

  • The work involves travelling mostly within Mid Surrey although also to other parts of the county. A car driver, with access to a car, is therefore essential for this role.
