Main duties of the job

The focus of this role is to provide line management to a small team of Dynamic Support Register(DSR) Social Care Practitioners. They in turn will provide skilled support to those people with complex needs on Oxfordshire's DSR. These are adults of working age who are most at risk of admission under the MHA 1983 or are currently detained with a learning disability and/or autism.

You will be providing high quality supervision and support so experience of managing challenging situations calmly and successfully is essential.

You will work closely families and other system partners to prevent people entering into crisis so that a hospital admission is not necessary. You will also support the successful discharge of people with a Learning Disability and/or Autism who are in hospital under the MHA 1983.

You will need a strong understanding of supported accommodation including residential and supported living settings and be able to work closely with support providers to ensure that they are working to further people's independence in line with strength-based practice.

There may also be opportunities to support discharge of adults with an acquired brain injury.

About us

Oxfordshire now has an established Dynamic Support Register(DSR) which actively supports those with a Learning Disability and/or Autism who are in an inpatient setting or are at risk of being detained under the Mental Health Act(MHA) 1983. We have an exciting opportunity to create a small team comprising of one Practice Supervisor and three DSR Social Care Practitioners who will work directly with people on the DSR. This is a hugely exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to both prevent inpatient admission and facilitate well-planned and timely discharges from inpatient settings.
