Local stop smoking services have been awarded extra funding support over the next five financial years to help create a smoke free generation. As part of this agenda, you will be one of our motivated Stop Smoking Health Coaches, providing brief interventions to the residents of Swindon with a specific focus on communities facing the greatest inequality. Your work will support individuals by providing targeted 1:1 Stop Smoking support for people in Swindon. The role will involve running clinics and drop-ins in the community, helping a set number of smokers to quit each year. You will also promote these clinics and drop-ins to ensure adequate client numbers, including face to face outreach, production/display of advertising materials and other promotional initiatives that attract local smokers.
You will bring skills in delivering health improvement interventions, partnership working and health promotion knowledge to a council where we put Swindon and its people at the heart of everything we do.
Applications are clearly welcomed from anyone that is already NCSCT qualified, but if not, you will be supported in becoming professionally certified. Your knowledge of early intervention as a means to improve health outcomes alongside an understanding of behaviour change models makes you an ideal candidate for this role.
