Main duties of the job

The Public Health Team at Swindon Borough Council is seeking to recruit three Public Health Practitioners to work across the Health Improvement and Health protection portfolios to support our key priorities of active travel, tobacco control and substance use and public mental health.

Our vision is to create healthy, strong and resilient communities. Our highly successful public health team works to improve and protect the health of Swindon residents, tackle health inequalities and protect the most vulnerable.

We are currently recruiting to three separate Fixed-Term Public Health Practitioner posts, each of which contributes to our priority areas.

Air quality and promoting active travel- 12-month Fixed Term Contract

Substance use and public mental health 18-month Fixed Term Contract

Tobacco control and reducing the prevalence of smoking in Swindon- 18-month Fixed Term Contract

As a Public Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing practitioner support and expertise to improve population health and wellbeing. You will work with a range of partners to develop and deliver a sustainable programme of activities, using a range of evidence-based public health skills and expertise to ensure our interventions are targeted to reduce inequalities and to deliver our strategic priorities.
