Job description

Job responsibilities

We are looking for four Therapy Support Workers to work across Cambridgeshire within our Prevention and Early Intervention services. The aim of the service is to identify, prevent, reduce and delay the need for both short- and long-term care and support. It comprises of the Adult Early Help team, Reablement, Technology Enabled Care, Sensory Services and Occupational Therapy.

These new roles will be focusing on providing therapy support to people receiving Reablement, to increase their independence, improve their well-being and decrease their long-term care and support needs.

These are hybrid posts. Working across the county of Cambridgeshire, with the ability to use multiple office bases including March, Ely, Huntingdon, St Ives and Cambridge, and the ability to work from home for the completion of documentation and non-clinical tasks.

The roles are offered on a full-time basis (37 hours per week) as a 12 month fixed term opportunity.

Interviews are planned for the week beginning 09/06/25.

We will honour any continuous service in terms of annual leave entitlement for staff joining us from other local authorities or NHS trusts.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the role or employee benefits, please call Occupational Therapy Team Manager Rebecca Marr on 07712251427.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Our benefits

We value our colleagues in Cambridgeshire County Council and have developed a number of benefits in addition to the basics like annual leave, sick pay, pension and mileage

  • A comprehensive wellbeing package to cover all aspects of wellbeing, both in and out of work, which can also be accessed by your family
  • Buy up to 4 weeks additional annual leave (pro-rata) through our salary sacrifice scheme
  • Take your bank holidays flexibly to better suit your personal circumstances
  • Make Additional Voluntary Contributions (Shared AVCs) to your pension with tax and National Insurance savings
  • Access to development opportunities, apprenticeships and qualified coaches to support your personal and professional growth
  • Paid volunteering hours each year so you can make a positive impact on our community during your normal working day
  • Access to Peer Support Groups through our IDEAL staff equality, diversity and inclusion network
  • Opportunities to nominate and receive Employee Recognition Awards
  • An Our Cambs Rewards account, giving you access to in-store and online discounts as well as our Car Lease and Cycle to Work schemes
What will you be doing?

You will be supported by a registered occupational therapist to manage your own caseload of service users that have been identified as requiring intervention from a therapy support worker.

Working within the agreed scope of practice, you will identify rehabilitation goals with people, monitor and evaluate peoples progress, and communicate regularly with the Reablement service. Interventions will include: functional practice, mobility and transfer assessment and practice, provision of home exercise programmes, activities to improve strength and balance, stairs practice, outdoor mobility, prescription of mobility aids and low-level equipment.

You will be supported to record and evidence the intervention provided and outcomes achieved.

You will have support from the whole OT team, including monthly supervision, daily drop in sessions, team meetings, huddles, professional development group, peer supervision, and a wide range of training opportunities.

About you

Successful candidates will have experience in working in a rehabilitation or reablement/enablement setting, excellent communication skills, and experience of working effectively as part of a team.
