Job summary
Alder Close Supported Living & Respite is based in the town of March and supports adults with a learning disability to access respite to offer carers a break from their caring role. The role of Night Support Worker is to enable adults with a disability to live as independently as possible and to enjoy lifestyles as close to those enjoyed by other members of the community. We support and empower individuals to enhance the quality of their life, maximise potential and to continue to promote and develop independence skills within their home or whilst staying at Respite.
Main duties of the job
This role provides care and support to service users overnight during the hours of 10pm-8am, during this period you are to remain awake. The role is for 35 hours per week, every week. You will report to the Senior Support Worker and work in a small team to provide practical support. Due to the nature of this role the post holder will often be lone working and will not readily have support and/or supervision available. You will therefore need to be able to respond immediately to crisis situations or instances of challenging behaviour by assessing the situation as it arises and the consequent level of risk to the service user and others. The role includes supporting with personal care where needed, ensuring service user safety during the night and administration of medication. You will also need to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the building. You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans, risk assessments and will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity. The shifts are on a 4-week rota which could be subject to change to meet service need. These will be during the week, at weekends and Bank Holidays (between 10pm-8am). Additional enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays. You will be required to work every other weekend. <p>The starting pay for the posts is £16.30 per hour this includes our night rate enhancement (£24.45 Saturday hours- £29.01 Sunday hours).</p> Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
