Job responsibilities

Are you an experienced Social Work Team Manager and have a passion for supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, their needs, experiences, and their future? Are you enthusiastic and have the childs voice at the heart of everything you do? Join us in our new Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) team!

Youll create and embed the UASC team, made up of Social Workers and Personal Advisors, and lead on all aspects of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young peoples experiences from the point that they come to Cambridgeshire. Recognising the trauma, challenges, and loss our children and young people have been through, whilst being able to undertake holistic assessments of their needs (including age assessments where necessary) and support them through the immigration system, whilst also being ambitious for their future.

As the Team Manager youll work alongside the Children in Care and Leaving Care teams as well as a range of other external partners including the Home Office, care providers, and health organisations. Experience of partnership working and networking is essential, as well as experience of delegating tasks and the ability to establish, lead, develop and motivate a team.

We pride ourselves on providing our Social Workers and alternatively qualified staff with a friendly, safe, and supportive environment to work in. As a Team Manager, youll be vital in providing this.

Based in Scott House, Huntingdon, no two days are the same and we have fantastic ambitions for this new team within the Children in Care service.

What will you be doing?

Your role will include allocating work, performance monitoring and supporting the development of the team. Youll be able to think on your feet in terms of the needs of our unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, and how the team can best meet their needs in this busy environment.

As this is a new team, you will be responsible for establishing and embedding this team, including creating a culture that focuses on the best possible outcomes for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people both in our care and when leaving our care, whilst recognising their individual needs.

About you

We're looking for confident and dynamic individuals whoenjoy making a difference in theirlocal community, arecurious and spot things that others might not see, enjoysbuilding relationships and likes to explore possibilities.

You must:

  • Be aqualified Social Worker with a Social Work England registration
  • Havethe ability towork from a variety of locations and travel countywide, and out of county, independently
  • Have strong leadership skills withproven experience of demonstrating resilience being able to thrive in a busy environment
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of UASC legislation and processes
  • Have knowledge of statutory requirements, safeguarding and local procedures
  • Have had supervisory experience and be confident at managing risk
