Join our Advice and Contact team, where we focus on prevention and early support, working creatively to make a real difference in peoples lives.
Were looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist who shares our values of compassion, respect, and collaboration.
In this role, you will carry out strengths-based assessments, often in challenging or sensitive situations, helping people live as independently and safely as possible. You will manage a varied caseload, including complex cases, and assess risk, recommend adaptations, and source bespoke equipment solutions. Youll also play a key role in safeguarding, moving and handling assessments, and supporting carers.
Youll work closely with health and social care professionals, always keeping the person at the centre of your practice.
Were looking for someone who is HCPC registered, with at least two years post-qualification experience and a strong understanding of relevant legislation. Youll be confident in managing risk, leading on complex cases, and contributing to service development.
Main duties of the job
The role involves completing strengths based occupational therapy assessments primarily by phone to identify customers needs, support independence, and plan appropriate services or interventions. The post holder manages a busy and complex caseload, including challenging situations, and uses professional judgement to assess risk, determine eligibility, and recommend equipment, adaptations, or rehousing where required.
Duties include carrying out complex moving and handling assessments, analysing and sourcing specialist equipment, and ensuring timely reviews that evidence progress and ongoing need.
The role requires safeguarding adults by identifying risk, acting according to policy, and occasionally undertaking the Investigating Officer function. The therapist works collaboratively with health and social care professionals, carers, voluntary and community services, and partner agencies to coordinate support and promote independence. Accurate recordkeeping, adherence to legislation and council procedures, and contributing to service development are essential.
The post also includes providing professional supervision to colleagues, supporting team learning, engaging in continuous professional development, and representing the Council professionally in all interactions.
