Our Social Workers are pivotal in supporting Wiltshire's vulnerable children, from pre-birth to age 18. We operate on a patch-based model, matching families with your expertise and chosen patch.
We prioritise flexibility, offering various work locations and hotdesking opportunities to facilitate collaboration with safeguarding teams and services.
At our core, we believe in a 'one journey, one worker' approach, providing consistent support through dedicated relationships. Our diverse team includes ASYEs, Experienced Social Workers, Family Keyworkers, and an Assistant Team Manager.
Collaboration is central to our work, as you'll partner with professionals and multi-agency teams. You will take on a leadership role, serving as a role model, sharing expertise with the team, and managing more complex cases individually. We care about your well-being, offering flexible work arrangements such as a 9-day fortnight, compressed hours, full or part-time positions, and job shares.
Main duties of the job
The Social Worker Level 4 role is responsible for delivering highquality social work to safeguard and support vulnerable children, young people, and their families. The post holder acts as the primary case holder for Children in Need, Child Protection, and Children Looked After, completing timely assessments, including Section 47 enquiries and single assessments, to analyse risk, needs, and family circumstances. They develop and implement outcomefocused plans in partnership with children, families, carers, and multiagency professionals, ensuring participation and minimising unnecessary intervention.
The role involves convening and contributing to core groups, planning meetings, child protection conferences, legal meetings, and court processes, including writing clear, evidencebased reports. The social worker collaborates closely with keyworkers, senior keyworkers, and partner agencies to provide coordinated services and promote positive outcomes. They maintain accurate electronic case records, meet statutory and performance timescales, and uphold confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
The post holder contributes to team processes, supports service improvements, mentors colleagues, supervises students, and shares research and best practice. They are expected to engage in supervision, ongoing training, and continuous professional development. The role also requires flexibility to meet family needs, occasionally working outside standard hours.
