Adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding (MASH) - Safeguarding with Confidence

Our dedicated MASH Team is on the lookout for a dynamic Investigating Manager to join them!

Main duties of the job

The Adult MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) Team offers crucial support to individuals who are at risk of or have experienced harm and have care and support needs. The team works closely with a variety of services and virtual partner agencies, these include Childrens Services, Police, various health colleagues, CQC and Advocacy as well as a range of voluntary and provider services.

As an Investigating Manager, you will oversee all aspects of Section 42 enquires concerning adults at risk. This will include setting actions, agreeing on minutes and maintain oversight of the investigation from start to finish. You will be responsible for monitoring the safeguarding process to ensure it is adequately completed and outcomes are actioned appropriately.

With a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in a social care setting, you should be able to demonstrate extensive professional development since qualifying. Holding a degree in Social Work alongside Social Work England registration will be essential. Our ideal candidate should possess substantial experience of case work with adults in a community health setting and leading safeguarding investigations alongside expert knowledge of social care legislation and policies relating to the safeguarding of adults at risk.

To operate as an Advanced Social Work Professional / Advanced Occupational Therapist Professional taking the investigating manager role in Adult Protection. The role involves complex work with regard to the Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act interface. Providing a consultative role based on developing skill, experience and expertise within Wiltshire. To use advanced expertise and knowledge to triage referrals, establish thresholds on which to base action plans and to take the overall management of investigations . To be proactive in the development and implementation of Safeguarding Adults at Risk and Making Safeguarding Personal. To play a part in service development and lead on efficient and effective delivery of practice standards and service quality. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

To be a specialist on Safeguarding/Adult protection matters within the team, playing a part in ensuring that all members of Wiltshire Council are working in accordance with current policies, procedures and strategies to include the application of the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS via advice given at the point of triage and over the phone.

To act as an investigating manager regarding adults at risk by overseeing all elements of the s42 enquiry including; setting the actions; agreeing minutes; and concluding the investigations. This to cover all the investigations within the council from start to finish.

For more complex investigations to take the role of Investigating Officer for example an investigation into a care home or hospital ward.

To provide independent specialist advice and consultancy to staff and other relevant agencies on matters pertaining to Safeguarding Adults and the implementation of policies, procedures and strategies

To support the development of behaviour and practice of team members and other colleagues to ensure high quality and effective social work practice via taking part in the quarterly training meetings.

To contribute to staff development in the specialist area of Safeguarding Adults at risk by helping to facilitate training and by modelling specialist skills

To ensure the investigation and monitoring safeguarding process is adequately completed, outcomes identified and actioned appropriately

To maintain a knowledge base of relevant law, policy and practice trends in the area of Adult protection to inform others

Develop close effective working relationships with partners

Essential

  • CQSW, DIPSW, CSS or BSc SW
  • DepCOT, Social Work England Registered
  • Professional Qualification In Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with Social Work England as an Occupational Therapist
