As an Aspiring Manager, you will provide professional leadership, advice, support, and supervision to social care staff within the team. Managing and being accountable for both individual and team performance. You will ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements, a key aspect of the role will include managing risks associated with both the customer group and staff working with them, ensuring that services are delivered safely and appropriately.

We are seeking a qualified Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with substantial post-qualification experience in the field. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with individuals who have complex needs within a social care setting or the NHS. Expert knowledge of social care legislation is essential, along with significant experience in conducting complex risk assessments to ensure safety within both the workplace and customer environments.

Job responsibilities

The team provide assessment and care management services, advice, and guidance, information and service provision to and for adults with care needs and their family or unpaid carers. The post holder is responsible to the Head of Service and Service Manager in Whole Life Pathway and will be accountable for the day-to-day operational leadership and management of the Moving on Service. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Under the direction of the Head of Service, the Aspiring Team Manager will provide professional leadership, advice, support and supervision to social care staff within the Moving on Service. They will participate with colleagues across the service in the sharing and development of policy and evidence-based practice.

Co-ordinate and manage a countywide Community Team ensuring efficient and effective community service in line with local, council and national objectives, screening and prioritising referrals and allocating work to practitioners.

Manage and be accountable for the work of individuals and the team to ensure that actions meet all legislative and regulatory requirements as determined by the national agenda and legislation. Be responsible for managing and monitoring change within the team, promoting good morale whilst ensuring all colleagues are adequately supported.

To provide advice and guidance to the senior management team on a broad range of complex issues.

To ensure the highest levels of public satisfaction for the service, to continue to make recommendations to transform the service alongside the Head of Service to meet the aspirations of customers and in accordance with the requirements of the law and external regulation.

Analyse and interpret performance data to inform decision making within the team.

To represent the council with customers, the public and partner organisations so as to raise the reputation of the council and promote the interests of the county and its people.

Understand and deliver on departmental priorities for high quality services aiming for excellent results in key performance indicators and deliver continuous service improvement for the benefit of our customers, carers and the council.

Monitoring performance and activity through our MABLE performance system, ensuring the completion of work in a timely manner, in line with legal and council requirements, including the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Programme Approach 2014, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard, and the Equalities Act 2010. Also have knowledge of childrens legislation, and the interface at the point of transition to adult services.

Work in partnership with commissioning colleagues, other departments within the council, agencies and the voluntary sector, contributing and promoting effective joint working within these specialist working groups.

Implementation of the recommendations and requirements of the Care Act 2014 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).

Develop effective working relationships with other teams across the council, for example, Childrens Services, Safeguarding, Customer Services, in order to meet needs and to effectively support customers to access council services.

Using the Mental Capacity Act, prepare and compile reports for presentation to the Court of Protection that relate to an adult who lacks capacity to make specific decisions about the care and support.

Manage the risk involved with the customer group, and the staff working with them to ensure services are delivered appropriately and in a safe manner.

Chair professional meetings as required with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams (internal and external to the council).

To manage and respond to any complaints or appeals.

Make funding authorisations decisions appropriate to the level of spend that is delegated to your role.
