Shared Lives Making a Difference
Join our small specialist team as a Shared Lives Officer, recruiting members of the community as Shared Lives Carers.
In these unique roles, vulnerable adults live alongside the carers family in domestic settings to receive personalised care for an ordinary life. The Shared Lives service caters to individuals with learning disabilities, head injuries, physical disabilities, mobility impairment, mental health service users, and older people.
Main duties of the job
As a Shared Lives Officer, you'll assess applicants' suitability, collaborate with care management teams, and ensure the quality of existing arrangements. Offering support and guidance in complex situations, you'll contribute to a safe, effective, caring, and responsive service. In addition, you will participate in the teams promotion of the service in talking and providing information to the public and interested groups.
A clean driving license and willingness to travel in Wiltshire are essential and while we are based in County Hall, Trowbridge flexible working arrangements are possible.

Qualifications
Essential
- A relevant qualification at HNC level or above: e.g. a social work qualification, a diploma in social care or related profession, a degree in a relevant field (e.g. psychology).
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years working in social care or a related field or ability to demonstrate equivalent skills and experience.
- Experience of providing care to people with learning disabilities, or mental health issues, or older people.
- Experience of evaluating the performance of care providers, addressing this with them and/or offering them guidance and support.
Desirable
- Experience of working in accordance with the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Experience of promoting the development of skills in people who provide care.
