This post receives a 15% market supplement payment which is reviewed annually.
We have two openings for a Litigation Solicitor with an Adult Care focus to be a part of our high achieving and supportive in-house Contentious Legal team.
Main duties of the job
About the role
There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in the role. You'll be part of a tight knit, highly supportive team so you'll always be able to look to those around you for help and guidance where needed.
The adult care focused work will include:
- Advising on court applications in respect of disputed capacity and best interest decisions.
- Some advocacy in the Court of Protection, usually in remote hearings.
- Applications to the County Court in respect of Displacement/Appointment of nearest relative under section 29 MHA.
- Contributing to training initiatives as required.
You will also be advising on a range of adult care matters; this includes:
- Ordinary residence disputes
- Safeguarding and resolving care management disputes
- Challenges to community care decisions in respect of financial assessments and care and support planning
- Complaints and Public law challenges
- Inter-agency disputes with health and other public authorities
Office attendance
Your contractual location will be our head office at County Hall in Trowbridge, however, there will be an opportunity to explore and agree to hybrid working arrangements that strike the right balance for you and the Legal Service. We would expect you to be able to attend the office regularly (currently on a two-weekly rota) and attend team meetings in person and remotely as required.
