Here atNorfolk First Responsewe work with a reablement ethos, working alongside people in their homes to make a positive difference. We aim to help them regain their previous abilities within 6 weeks following a period of ill health or change in circumstances and our Support Workers (Reablement) are a key part of that.

Main duties of the job

The vacant post is 16.5 hours per week, working in Winterton, Caister, Hemsby and surrounding areas. You will work a range of mornings(either 7.30am to 2pm or 8am to 2.30pm) and evenings (either 4.30 to 9pm or 5 to 10pm) with the hours averaged out over a two-week rota, enabling you to plan in advance to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

You need to be caring, empathetic and committed to making a difference to peoples lives with the ability to easily commute to peoples homes in East Norfolk so will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle. However, you do not need previous experience as full training will be given.

users, in their own homes, as detailed in their service user plan and agreed outcomes by

providing active support to enable them to live as independently as possible and take

part in the activities of everyday life

To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team liaising with other professionals and

services as necessary to provide the best possible care to service users and their carers

Essential

  • An ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Can demonstrate an empathetic nature
  • To be able to exercise judgement and initiative within the designated areas of responsibility
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and be flexible
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Suitability to work with vulnerable adults an enhanced DBS check will be undertaken and screening will be in accordance with the Health & Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulation 2010- schedule 3.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Willingness to undertake specialist training including the Care Certificate which includes Moving & Handling and administration of medication.
  • Willingness to undertake Key skills Maths and English
  • Willingness to undertake social care level 2 Diploma
  • Key skills/GCSE in Maths and English

Desirable

  • NVQ2 (Care) or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of identifying and communicating peoples needs and preferences
  • Experience of being part of a team member
  • Full driving licence/provision of a vehicle as you may be required to travel to venues not accessible by public transport
  • An understanding of the needs of elderly, disabled and other vulnerable people in the community
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of using ICT and mobile technology (smart phones/tablets)

Desirable

  • Demonstrable knowledge of working in a care environment, preferably within a domiciliary care or informal setting
