Residential Childrens Practitioner Nights (Level 1)

Our short breaks home, Foxwood, provides round the clock care for children and young people and requires practitioners to work a variety of shifts, this is predominately a night role however does also include working days and weekends to ensure opportunities for training and development.

Main duties of the job

We need highly motivated, resilient, and positive team members with humour, tenacity, and empathy to help children and young people with disabilities thrive and reach their full potential. We are seeking an experienced individual who can lead shifts and to support and guide junior staff during the night. disabilities, so they feel supported in all aspects of their lives. This will include providing

personal/social care at differing levels to ensure that disabled holistic needs aremet at

all times.

To engage in the effective delivery of residential childcare in accordance withOfsteds

Social Care Inspection Framework. To maintain good professional practice within the

homes in accordance with Departmental Standards, working as part of a team to

achieve good outcomes for children and young people.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Ability to attain a NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care within 18 months of appointment.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training courses.

Desirable

  • Good standards of educational achievement (5 GSCE passes or above).
  • Understanding of childcare law.

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to form effective relationships with children and act as a positive role model.
  • Good level of applied literacy and numeracy.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of child protection and disability issues.
  • Knowledge of augmented communication systems.
  • A minimum of 12 months experience of childcare work.
