Main duties of the job
The London Borough of Bromley, in partnership with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit full-time Social Workers/AMHPs to work within our Community Mental Health teams based in Orpington and Beckenham.
Bromley Social Workers (AMHPs) work closely with the community and in-patient multi-disciplinary colleagues to support adults with mental health difficulties and their carers. Your role will be to offer support to both community and in-patient services, with the focus on working together with service users to enhance their independence and quality of life. You will be expected to undertake the statutory requirements of your role and that of the local authority to include Care Act duties, Safeguarding, both adult and children.

PURPOSE:
- To assess the needs
of people with acute, complex or enduring Mental Health problems and the
needs of their carers. If an AMHP this will include assessments under
the Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007.
- Together with the
service users and carers, formulate and implement care plans to meet the
identified need.
- To monitor, review
and evaluate services provided to the individual in order to ensure that
they are provided effectively and meet the identified need..
- To work within a
multi-disciplinary CMHT.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND
DUTIES:
1.
If a qualified AMHP, to undertake Mental Health Act (MHA1983, amended
2007) assessments and any other statutory functions in order to ensure
conformity to appropriate legislative framework. To participate in the AMHP borough wide
rota.
2.
If a Best Interest Assessor for
DOLS to participate in assessments as required.
3.
In partnership with people who use services and their carers, assess
and identify their needs and ensure these needs are met enhancing their
quality of life, and independence.
4.
To work in partnership with all internal and external professionals
and organisations involved in assessment and service provision through
effective communication and consultation networks ensuring a coordinated
response to service users and carers.
5.
Provide professional advice and expertise to less experienced staff,
including students and colleagues and carry a complex caseload. Establish,
monitor and review care plans agreed with service users, carers and service
providers. Using CPA policy and procedures and in line with the Care Act to
identify measurable outcomes for service users and carers.
6.
Contribute to the control of team budgets by agreeing priorities with
service users and carers, to ensure quality best value at all times.
7.
Ensure the welfare benefit entitlement of individuals in the
community, or in hospital, are
identified
and met within the requirements of legislation and available resources.
8.
If required and where appropriate, to contribute to any plans relating
to /respond to civil emergencies, supporting colleagues in the local Social
Care teams and assessing/managing risk.
9.
Undertake safeguarding investigations, ensuring that the Councils
safeguarding policy and procedures are adhered to whilst working with
vulnerable adults and children and undertaking investigations as required.
10.
Familiarise, uphold and promote the aims of the Councils Equality and
Diversity policies in the course of day to day work.
