Job summary

Southend City Council Children, Young People and Families Public Health (CYP&FPH) Service would love for you to come and work in our vibrant community, supporting children aged 5-19

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner to join the team to deliver the National Child Measurement Programme across Southend City.

Our 0-19 service delivers high quality public health nursing, that promotes and improves health to children, young people and their families in Southend-On-Sea. You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills, have the ability to work autonomously and as part of an integrated skill mix team.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to work within the school nursing service, covering all schools and settings within Southend-On-Sea to deliver the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). This includes local private schools and children who are electively home educated (EHE).

You will be supported by our School Nurse Assistants, public health team and school nurses.

Job responsibilities

To work within the school nursing service, covering all schools and settings within Southend-On-Sea to deliver the National Child Measurement Programme to all schools. This includes local private schools and children who are electively home educated (EHE).

To work as a member of a corporate school nursing team supporting the school nursing team to deliver Public Health, clinical, and non-clinical and clerical duties associated with the delivery of the Healthy Child programme (HCP 5-19) to enable children and young people to access their education and make healthy lifestyle choices.

The role may require the post holder to undertake clinical duties to meet the needs of the individual children and young people. There is an expectation that training will be undertaken and provided to fulfil the role safely and effectively.

Contribute to the promotion of positive approaches, culture, and ethos of a multi-disciplinary service provision in partnership with multi agency support teams and a broader health team.

To deliver the National Child Measurement Programme to Year 6 and reception children during set times throughout the academic year. Recording information captured on Systmone and Thomson school screener or alternative software used at the time.
