Job summary
We
are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated SCPHN Health Visitor with
initiative and drive who is passionate about providing an excellent service and
support to children and their families to enable the best start in life for all
children living in Southend.
Applications
will be welcomed from experienced, newly qualified health visitors and SCPHNs
nearing qualification.
In
Southend our health visiting and school nursing teams operate within an
integrated 0-19 Childrens Public Health service model and incorporate a skill
mix team approach to support aspects of service delivery.
Main duties of the job
Our Health Visitors lead the Healthy Child Programme 0-5 and are valued leaders for Childrens Public Health agenda. We work in close collaboration with Children Centres, Early Years Providers, Education, A Better Start Southend, and alongside other partner agencies to improve population outcomes and reduce health inequalities for children and young people and families in our city.

- First Level Nurse Registration with NMC
- Specialist Community Practitioner qualification in Health Visiting.
- Effective oral / written communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of profiling localities and need
- Experience of Safeguarding
- Experience of Working with people within clinic/home and community settings
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Skills in managing own workload through effective use of prioritisation.
- Ability to use child and family focused approach to care, which utilises enabling and facilitation skills to maximise the involvement of parents/carers
- Ability to use evidence based, clinically effective interventions in the holistic planning and implementation of family centred care
- Evidence of commitment to life-long learning and professional development
- Computer literacy, knowledge of SystmOne or similar clinical system
- An understanding of Strategic Direction of Childrens Services
Desirable
- Experience as a Registered Health Visitor.
- Experience leading in a team
- Planning schemes of work
