Health and Care Intelligence Specialist Level 7 Apprenticeship

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an early career data analyst to join the Public Health Intelligence Team as a Health Care Intelligence Specialist Apprentice, where you will develop your skills and knowledge alongside completing the Health and Care Intelligence Specialist Level 7 apprenticeship.

The role is offered on a fixed term/secondment basis for 36 months, working full time over 5 days, within which you will be allocated 20% as protected time for your apprenticeship.

You will work on a range of data and intelligence projects that support population health management. This may include bringing together data from health, social care and wider determinants of health. There may also be opportunity to work across projects with health intelligence teams across the East Berkshire footprint.

Main duties of the job

Understanding, defining and delivering analysis for many subject areas. Helping organisations to understand their data and collaborating with teams from across Bracknell Forest and Berkshire to improve health delivery and resident outcomes.

Focussing on analysing health and care data to improve public health outcomes, support policy making, and enhance the efficiency of healthcare services.

Working with large datasets, collaborating with other local government departments and NHS services, and ensuring compliance with public health regulations.

The Level 7 Health & Care Intelligence Specialist Apprenticeship

This 36-month apprenticeship includes a taught element (1 day/ week) alongside on the job training and development.

  • As the role is funded by the NHS, to be eligible to apply for this post you are required to have achieved one of the following:
  • Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) undergraduate degree
  • Social Sciences (e.g. Psychology, Geography, Economics, Accounting) undergraduate degree with research methods and/or statistics and quantitative degree modules, and an undergraduate dissertation with a research or data analysis component
  • Level 4 or higher qualification in STEM or a related field that includes substantial mathematical content (e.g., Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Computing, Engineering, or Science)
  • Professional registration with FEDIP through the Association of Healthcare Analysts (AphA) at Practitioner or Senior Practitioner level
  • Equivalent analytical work experience (e.g. Band 6 or Band 7 data/senior analyst or similar role
  • You will have excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail so you can work with partners to understand problems which data is needed to solve, and provide insight through written reports and presentations

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject with a core numerical component and/or equivalent level of experience and training from working within the NHS or public health in a similar role.

  • Qualification in informatics field.
  • Knowledge of Population Health Intelligence approaches
